time for new tires again.
ok i've got 17 inch staggered volks. previously have run yoko avs es100. thought they were mediocre but alright price. ran some dunlop porsche oem's also i think 8000's but forget the exact tire. they were nice.

i need something with good wet weather performance and treadwear as priorities. i mostly drive freeway commute and am chronically disappointed with treadwear of high performance tires. i still like to have something that can grip when i want to have some fun spirited driving on a nice day.
so far one has really stood out to me.. the goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3.
they are on special right now for what i believe is a fraction of the regular prices.. and seem to be almost a no-brainer. so let me know if i'm right and should just jump on these right away..
others that i noticed in that price range were the bridestone re050a pole position. i have been utterly confused with bridgestones names and how often they seem to change them so yeah.. are these particular models up in the standings comparable to the likes of the previous s-02 and re050 models that are popular for s2ks? or a toned down version? they come in about the same price as the goodyears. treadwear ratings are confusing.. are these going to last at all or is that 180aa number a scary number?
for about $100 less a set i could get the bfgoodrich kwd-2. i wouldn't expect quite as much performance out of these but they seem a good tire that can handle wet weather and have a decent lifespan.
the michelin pilot sport ps2 also look like contenders but the prices are up there. i haven't pinpointed a reason why these would be better than the others considering the price jump.
thanks jim!

where are all the tire people?
re750 bridestone also seems worth considering.. a 340aa tread rating vs. a 140aa for the re050A pp's.. within the same brand that seems like a huge difference. but would i really see twice the life or more with these?

Any tire is better than the Extra Slippery 100's.
Treadwear and performance are almost always inversely relative to one another, so don't be overly disappointed.
The GS-D3's are good tires for wet and dry. I haven't run them, but several of the owners in the Mid-A liked them on the S. My asst. mgr has them on his sc'd Mustang and likes them. Be very careful when assessing tires based on reviews on any site. The vehicle has a lot to do with how well the tire performs.
I did run the KDW-2's on my last set of Volks. Awesome in the rain. I autox'd on them as well. Not terribly bad, but they definitely couldn't be confused with an S-02 to be sure. My current choice of tire on my Time Attacks does not meet your requirements: Falken RT-615's.
Alignment plays a big part in both tire wear and experienced driving performance. Most folks won't get much past 18k miles on the rears with any tire. I consider 15k miles for rear tires on this car a very long life.
