265 is a bit wide for a 9" wheel. 255 is more ideal. I'm personally running a 245 on a 9" which give it a very slight stretch; the 245 instead of 255 is helping with my fender clearance. Since you're running a +28 offset, you're already screwed on fender clearance, so you might as well run a 255.

As for tire choice, I personally prefer the Potenza RE-11.

^people run 255 on stock wheels which are 8.5", so why cant you run a 265 on a 9"? mm-wise it would be about the same give or take ~3mm

Have you rolled the fender lips on the car. The 17X9 with a 28mm offset is reall aggressive and will need some fender work. The advantage of the 255/40R17 is they are the correct height.
If I can help with the tires let me know.

You're going to need a lot of fender work, camber, and probably can't run any wider than 235's.
