Tire question again!
Ok here we go again with another tire question. I have read countless past threads but I have not the patience to read aimlessly through hundreds if not thousands of comments. With that said please only helpful, insightful and experienced responses are desired. I need rear tires ASAP so I have been looking everywhere and found a deal on some Maxxis Victra Z4S tires.
Treadwear:420
traction:A
Temp:A
Speed rating:98W
M+S rated All season ultra high performance radial
Now the size 255-40-17 going to go on APV2 stock wheels and the S is stock height "no mods" I don't autox or drift, I DD and rarely go above legal speed limit. Now let the wisdom flow guys please thanks in advance.

Currently I have AP2V1's and the new tires would go on my second set of rims (the APV2), I want to change up the rims so instead of slapping them on my current rims I thought I'd put them on my back ups. But I would like to use 225-45-17's up front instead of the stock 215's. By same kind do you mean make, size, or performance?

I have a set of Maxxis Victra MA-Z1 tires on the front of my car and they do surprisingly well. They are grippy and seem to balance out the stock RE050s in the back very well. Turn in is crisp and the tires seem to be wearing well.
That said...
The Z4S is an all-season tire made to handle some snow. It has a higher treadwear rating (420 vs 280) compared to the Z1 and will surely not perform as well either. My personal opinion is that this tire is probably not up to OEM performance specs, but would do just "ok" if you decided to replace all four tires at one time. I would not put these tires in back if you had a high performance set of tires in the front. This would cause the rear end to lose traction more readily than it should.
I would look into some higher performing tires in a similar price range. The Summitomo HRT ZIII is a good bet.

Well fall (closely followed by winter) is about a month and a half away, So this is where the all season debate has me stuck. I would like to purchase true summer tires deep into the winter months I guess.

You really need to decide summer or all season first. Obviously there will be different recommendations on the tires. The Conti DWS is the best that we have tested in the A/S tires. I would not suggest trying to run the summer tires in any cold weather.
