Default tire recommendations ?

Im ordering a set of Volks with the following offsets:

18x 7.5 + 48 - Fronts
18x 8 + 58 - Rears

I was recommended the following tire sizes:

225x40x18 - Fronts
255x35x18 - Rears

I just wanted to find out if first if the tire sizes recommended would come out far enough to cover the rim, and 2nd what set of tires people would recommend (high performance summer) without causing any rubbing. I plan on purchasing coilovers soon. From what Ive heard the SO-3s may cause incidental rubbing however the Toyos will not. However I am not that interested in purchasing the T-1s. Anybody have any additional info for me ? thanks, eric.

According to the message on Jim's phone he'll be in tomorrow. I'd wait and see what he says. He knows more about tires than I'd ever want too.

For a 255/35R18 you will need at least an 18X8.5 wheel. The widest tire I would recommend would be a 245/35R18 rear and I would stay with the 225/40R18 in the front.
