Tire recommendations
My fist track day which was supposed to happen next month just got moved to next weekend so now I'm scrambling to buy new tires. These are my requirements:
- Sizes that fit stock AP1 wheels
- Around $100 each or less
- Made by Toyo, Hankook, Nexen or Falken (available locally)
They don't have to be the stickiest be-all-end-all race tire. Just grippy enough for a track newbie to have some fun. The more they behave like an all-out race tire the better. That way when I move up to race rubber I'll have an idea how the car is goingto handle.
If Tire Rack has anythingelse that fits my budget I'll consider it since I think that they can deliver within a few days.
Thanks in advance

The best tires for AP1 wheels in terms of grip and performance for any price are the Bridgestone RE-01R. Click on it to get to the tire rack website. They are pretty cheap, just over $100 and are just a step below race tires. You will not regret it. 205/55-16 in front 225/50-16 in the rear.
Hankook Z212 RS2's would be great for you. I ran on them at Lime Rock, they performed very well. Available in stock AP1 sizes, also in 245/45-16, and 205/50-16 (the sizes I'm running, on 16x7 and 16x8 wheels). All under $100.
Kumho MX's from Tire Rack also meet your budget constraints. I've heard good things about 'em for track use.
Neither are likely to be quite as good as the more expensive RE01R's, but if you're not competing for times, they would suffice.
