Default tire size/ gear ratio

I'm looking to put on drag radials and there is minimal size selection. Changing from a 225/50/16 to a 245/50/16 adds about an inch to the total tire diameter. I think it is about an 8% difference. Does this effectively change your gear ratio and slow acceleration?

Yes it does. I am not smart enough to figure out how much though.

The total diameter and the rolling circumference is 3% larger than stock. Does this equate directly to a 3% change in gear ratio?

If you are correct about the 3%, then yes. It would be like putting 3.977:1 rear gears on a stock car.
