Default Tire size help

Picked up a supercharged s2k with a claimed 315 whp. Previous owner had 255/40 on the front and 275/40 on the rears. The front wheel size is 17x9 and the rear is 17x10. Should I stick with the sizing or change it. The rear tire is 2% larger in diameter than the front

Keep it if you like your current grip levels and front/rear balance, otherwise change it accordingly.

2.5% tire diameter difference shouldn't upset ABS. Note our cars like -- heck insist on -- matched tires. Make, model, tread depth, pressure.

Curious what wheels you're running. What body work was done to fit these tires?

PS: Since this is a new-to-you car we need photos. Or it didn't happen.

it’s on 949 wheels, fenders are rolled and it on bilsteins. Ended up going with continental ExtremeContact sport 02s

Supercharger (and the car itself) look clean.

(Wish I didn't need tag on the front of the car here in Virginia.)

By matched tires do you mean squared tires or just same tire by the same brand? I'm curious about the R&D by honda that made them make the decision the stagger the tires.

In the case of the S2000 same tire in the right size for which end of the car it's on. Not "squared" just brand, model, age, tread depth, pressure. Car was designed for larger rear tires. Performance rear wheel drive cars often have staggered tire sizes. Mom's sedan likely was not.

One problem with matching the tires is some high traction, quick wearing tires will wear out one end of the car long before the other and sometimes just replacing the worn tires even with same brand, etc, (but newer) produces handling anomalies only cured by new tires all around. Can Cross-Mount staggered tires but can't back to front.

Car was designed with Extreme Performance Summer tires in mind. Will run just fine on All-Seasons but you'll miss out on a lot of handling. Two seat convertibles cars are Big Boy Toys really not intended for daily driving -- something many of us have to relearn at times.
