Default Tire size setup question?

Hey tire masters, I searched but did not find a good answer to my question.

I have a set of aftermarket wheels, 16x7 and 16x8, offsets dont matter.

I am going to run 245/45/16 in the rear, now with most people running these wheels, like on spoon wheels, they run 205/55/16 in the front.

Can I run 205/50/16 in the front? Will it make a difference? Does it matter?

THANKS!

I run 205/50-16's up front with 245/45-16. They're shorter (24.1" vs. 24.6" for 245/45-16 and 24.9" stock diameter).

I chose 205/50's so the fronts would be smaller in diamter than the rears rather than larger than the rears.

Ideally, fronts and rears would be the same diameter, but I prefer the fronts being 0.5" shorter than rears to 0.3" taller.

FWIW, I've gone as extreme as 205/45-16 fronts (23.2") with 225/50-16 rears (24.9"). This was not by choice! Those were track tires which were given to me. Anyway, the result was noticeably greater front braking bias. Which is more stable than increasing rear bias. Anyway, not a *huge* deal at the track, but not ideal...

Long/short, 205/50-16 with 245/45-16 rears is not a problem.

I chose 250/50's so the fronts would be smaller in diamter than the rears rather than larger than the rears.
