245/40/17 Dunlop Z2's or Bridgestone RE11a's.

I love my Yokahama AD08's. Awesome dry grip with gradual falloff when pushed to the limit. Fairly quite, smooth ride and acceptable wet grip. If dry grip street tires are a major concern for you, these are your tires.

Are the actually worth the extra money over the z2's, re11a, or rs3's though? I like the look of the advans but the price seems insane compared to these others.

I never tried the tires you mentioned, but I can say that the AD08's have great dry grip, gradual loss of traction when pushed past the limit so you don't suddenly lose it.
They are very predictable and give you confidence. They are quiet and have good ride quality.
That's exactly the tire I wanted for my AP1.
I paid around $800 OTD at discount tire.

Bridgestone RE11A
Dunlop ZII
Yok AD08R
Hankook RS-3

Fair selection of great street/track tires. Depending on front and rear fender clearance, you could go 255 or 245 all around, or 245F/255R, 235F/255R, or 235/245.
