Default Tires...what to do?

Ok guys I have an issue. I while back I picked up a nice long screw in the left rear. I took it to get patched, but do to where it was they could only plug it. Now I have a slow leak in the same tire and I am guessing that the plug may be leaking. Thing is I only have 4000 or so miles on the tires. They are the OE RE050's that came on the car new. If I have to replace the the one leaking tire I am guessing at this point I need to change both the rears out out, since I am 4000 miles into them? If I do change them out could I go with the Direzza Z1 Star Specs in a 255 size in the rear and leave the stock 215's in the front or will that just throw off the handing of the car? What is the best thing to do?

Thanks!!

John

I would take it to a different tire shop first. I don't see why they couldn't patch it if they could plug it. Is the puncture in the sidewall?

I don't like to have mismatched tires on my car (front, rear).

The guy I took it to is top notch and is the only place I will go. Unfortunately, the pucture was real close to the sidewall and he did not think the patch would hold.

The problem is that anything in or near the sidewall can be a problem. The sidewall flexes and then the hole opens up.
