Rear Tire Replacement
Well, It has been said that I am not hard enough on the car since in have 24k on my rear tires. And with approx 5k left on them, I guess it will be time to replace them. What do you recommend that I will go nuts for, good price, and well as a supplier? Appreciate your input felllow S2k'rs Bros/Sisters.

Until you need to change all 4 tires, you should stick with OEM (presuming that is what you have now). Mismatching front and rear is a big no-no.
Typically the rears wear out twice as fast as the fronts, so every other time you buy rears you get a full set........and can try different tire then.

Blah blah, it depends on how different, too. You don't want stock front with like pilot sports rear, yes. But IMHO i think that you can get a different but comparable tire in the rear and it doesn't change the handling characteristics too much. How much left do you have on the fronts?
My last set, I went through this place called
American Tire Depot
(949)650-9040
They are located in Costa Mesa.
Last time I went there, I got tires for the same price as discount tire had them for without shipping and I got them installed for free. So basically, I paid what I would have if I bought from discount tire and didn't have to pay for shipping or install
You can always go through steve@tirerack too!
This guy does mostly wholesale, and gives pretty much wholesale to people that come to him too! It's nice.
I had no "connection" with him before I went in, and he quoted me like $60 less than other local guys for 2 rears installed

The main thing to remember when replacing rear tires on the S, IMO, is that you should wind up with more grip in rear than in front. If you have very sticky front tires (like OEM S02s for early model year cars) and you wind up buying cheap rear tires without as much grip (even though they are new) ... bad things can happen.
Basically if the front tires have more grip than the rears, the S2000 becomes MUCH more apt to lose grip at the rear during sudden maneuvers/hard cornering, which can lead to a spin.
...I speak from experience I replaced my worn out fronts with new OEM S02s and the rears still had about 30% tread, and, well, I'm on my second car now. (Of course it didn't help that I was driving stupidly--to forestall the posts about how the car isn't to blame, it's the driver.)
I got a complete set of Fuzion ZR1s on the new S and while they are not nearly as grippy as the S02s, they were cheap and treadlife is a lot higher than the Bridgestones. I'm pretty happy with them.

I just bought some OEM spec RE050's. Could have bought a whole set of Azenis RT615's and upgraded to a 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 for about $180 more
