Default Track/Street tire recommendation

Now that I'm doing more and more track days I'm thinking about breaking down and buying a set of track rubber for my stock 16s. I need some advice, though.

I'm about ~150 miles from the track and would prefer a set of tires that I can drive to and from the track without having to worry about heat cycles and too much freeway wear. Any recommendations?

What's the widest combo I can get away with on stock '02 16s?

RA-1s. Getting them shaved won't affect wear, only wet traction. 245/45-16. 225/50-16. If you want to see what they feel like, let me know and we can arrange a time

Hey Asura, thanks for the reply and the offer--I may just want to take you up on that. Aside from price, how do the Toyos compare with the V700s?

Personally, I cannot comment because I have never driven on V700's. cthree is a good source of info. However, from what I have heard from others, they don't last nearly as long, they are a little stickier, and they breakaway less progressively. From a budget perspective the RA-1's make more sense. V700's are better suited to autox.

RA-1'a are also fine in the rain.
