Default true preservation of stock ap2 stagger

So it looks like a 205/50-17 and 255/40-17 are the correct aftermarket sizes for maintaining the factory tread width stagger. Anybody try this combo? Not looking for bigger front tires, and not looking for a square setup, so don't bother.

Interesting. Are you planning on putting this on a front wheel that's less than a 7.5" width?

Ah you're right. I had a brain fart and was thinking the stock size in the front was 7.5".

IMO, fixation on factory "tread width stagger" is misguided. Measured static "tread width" doesn't necessarily dictate static contact patch width, much less contact patch area, much less under dynamic conditions. And absolute contact patch width/area probably aren't as strongly related to absolute lateral grip as you might think.

Just run 215/45-17 fronts with 255/40-17 rears, no worries.
Or 215/45-17 with 245/40-17.
Or 225/45-17 with 255/40-17.

Because I trust Honda engineers more than shadetree enthusiasts that say "just do x!"

If that were true...I'd assume you'd be looking at 215/45s....

^^^Agreed. Then the Honda engineers must have a really good reason for going 215/45 in the front 245/40 for the AP2 and then for the CRs 215/45 and 255/40.

Bottom line...205/50s front on 17" wheels doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
