Default Volk LE28's

Hey,

I've been searching for weeks now and I finally think i've decided on some gunmetal LE28's for my silverstone.

I've decided to go for 18" so I can get a BBK under them without huge spacers.

Am I correct in thinking the correct sizes and offsets will be...

18x7.5 et50 (fronts)

18x8.5 et47 (rears)

does anyone know if these will rub when dropped 1.5-2" on coilovers?

also does anyone know if there will be enough clearance to fit a stoptech bbk or will I need spacers?

I've done loads of searching and I just need to be 100% sure as my coilovers, wheels and bbk all depend on each other.

Thanks
Rick

You will need a more than 10mm spacer to clear LE28's in that offset. You do not need a 18" to clear the BBK as they can fit under a 17" rim. The problem is the offsets. The Volk CE28 and TE37 are not very good for fitting BBKs.

With a spacer that size and lowered you will have issues with rubbing without wide fenders or some other adjustment like thin tires, fender rolling and negative camber.

Thanks for your reply

I was hoping that with an 18 I wouldn't need as big as spacer as the 17's would need to try and reduce rubbing

Is there anyway of getting a bbk under an LE28 without rubbing too badly when lowered? different offset and width maybe?

Have I just picked the worlds worst wheel for a bbk and the worlds biggest bbk?

any info would be appreciated

Thanks
Rick

The spoon caliper is smaller than the stoptech so yes they will fit better. For the ce28/le28, people running spoon calipers typically go with the +43 offset in the front and then run a 3mm spacer. You will still have issues clearing your fenders with those offsets.

Best bet for a light weight, forged rim that fits the S and stoptech calipers without spacers it the Prodrive GC-07 17x7.5 +48 in the front. Just as light and made along side of the volks to prodrive specs. They look sharp on the ASM S2000. They are cheaper than the volks and there is a group buy going on for them in the group buy forum.

If you need flashy 18's Work Meisters are one of very few rims that you can get that do not need spacers for BBK. They will be more expensive than the volks though. Although Rijowysock is now a s2ki vender selling Work rims. He can get them pretty fast and is selling a few sets at cost to get business. May bring the price more in line with the volks.

You'll have about a 3 month wait the volks. Prodrives shouldn't take quite as long although the popular british black GC-07 looks to be on backorder at most places.
