Default What are currently the best street legal Autocross

Hello all,
I have recently purchased an S2000. I plan on summer use only and some Autocross action. The wheels are 17"x7" front and 8.5"x17"rear. What are the very best tires for this application?
Thanks!

Hankook RS-3, Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec, Toyo R1-R.

No particular order, each is a little better in some criteria and worse in others. Any one can win. There's a fair bit of discussion buried within the Racing & Competition forum here, plus Grassroots Motorsports Magazine just did a comparison test in their latest issue.

What classification are you going to be competing in? Check to make sure you use tires rated appropriate for your class.

Ah, but A6's have a UTQG treadwear rating of 40, infinitely better than 0!

Street tires worthy of op's consideration:
Bridgestone RE11
Dunlop Direzza Star Spec
Yokohama AD08
Hankook RS-3

Don't forget Kumho's Ecsta XS.

Tested Kumho's VS Hankooks on asphalt and concrete. Kumho's were faster on asphalt Hankooks on concrete. Both were about 3-4 tenths faster than each other on the different surfaces.

I was talking to Woody from Tirerack last week and he said that they got 150 runs out of their project MX-5 that is in Grassroots motorsports. They were shaved to 4/32s I believe (maybe 6/32s), and they retired them because they thought they were getting heat cycled. They put new ones on, shaved again, and only gained a half second...that's pretty good performance from old tires IMO.

Athough last year's AS national champion was on Kumho.

Yes, they are both DOT legal.
