Default What size 18" rubber?

I just bought a set of 18" volks and i'm wondering how big rubber i can comfortably go. I have 18x7.5" with a +48 offset in the front and a 18x8.5" with a +50 offset for the rear. I'm planning on going with a 225/40 in the front and i'm debating on a 255/35 or a 265/35 for the rear. Just wondering which will fit more comfortably and without issues of rubbing?? I am not lowered right now, but i may lower about 1" max in the future. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't think 18x8.5" +50 will work with a 265 tire and 1" drop.
