Default What size rear can I run with this setup ?

Ok, so my wheels are 18x8.5 +45 and 18/9 +50 (VS-XX) I'm in need of some rear tires. My current tires are: 225/45 and 245/40 (all stock fenders and 1/4 panels)

I'll be running Tein S-Tech springs which are not on the car yet, hence my questions:

Im getting a good deal on these tires, but can I run a 255/45 on the rear ?? If it does fit, will it look funny due to the 45 height ?? I still want the car to handle well and not worry about rubbing, but it's not a daily driver, so a little rub over bumps etc. is not the end of the world.

What's the max width I can run with my setup ??

Thanks in advance for the help and all the valuable info in the rim & tire forum.

Your current sizes for 18's are a little large, so doing 255/45 is going to be much larger than recommended. Recommended sizes will be 225/40/18 and 245 or 255/35/18. Those will make your tire sizes closest to factory.

Thanks for the input but I understand it's larger than "recomended", I want to know if they will fit without rubbing and if they'll look funny because of their height.

Can anyone else chime in ?

They will look funny, throw off the speedometer, and make it seem like you are running taller gears. Your tires are already oversized, don't make it worse. Get 225/40, 255/35 for your next set.

I have 245/35/18 offset 45 on the back and it doesn't rub. It is the closest size in diameter to the stock tires that I could find. Yeah it looks funny, I look like a freakin 4x4 from some angles. Gotta lower it soon and it'll look great.

245/40 would close a little bit of the wheel gap but not enough, it will still look funny at stock height and like everyone is saying - it'll throw off gearing and speedo.
