Wheel offset...again...
Hello, I am new to the Forum and new to the S2K community. I recently picked up an '01 S2K. It is completely stock in every way. I plan on lowering it a bit, maybe an inch or so, but not too much more than that. It will be my daily driver and I don't forsee any track time, as there are no tracks close to where I live.
With all that said, here is my question...
When I moved back to the States from Japan, I brought a set of Volk TE37 that I had on my RX7. They are 17x8 +38 for the front and 17x9 +40 for the rear. I know from the wheel fitment guides that I have read that the offset is not quite enough for an S2K. However, I would still like to run these, as they were rather expensive and now they are just sitting in storage. Has anyone had any experience with sizes/offsets similar to these? Did they rub? How far will they stick out? Etc...
I don't want to do anything too extreme to the car, just make it look a bit better. Would I be better off just selling these and buying a cheaper, better fitting set?
Any comments/advice will be greatly appreciated.

That's pretty aggressive. If you run a slightly smallish tire on the rear, you might make it work. The front will need some pretty good fender work though. That's pretty aggressive for an S2000.
the way volks sell on this forum, you should be able to sell them for more than what you payed for them and then just buy a new set that will fit and keep the extra cash. [/sarcasm]
both can be squeezed, but it'll take a considerable amount of front fender work, a decent amount of camber (and a drop to make this possible), and some narrower-than-optimal tires.

Come on now guys a +38 and +40 isn't going to fit EASY.
A fender roll and pull in the front with a small tire and more neg camber. In the rear you'll need the same and also a bumper tab relocation. Even then your wheels will might still stick out or look like this in the rear. /----\

I would stay on the narrow side for the tires as well. Depending on the tire and the alignment you could still have rubbing in certain situations. Some tires are just going to run wider than others.
