Default Wheel / tire suggestions

I am interested in getting some 18" Volk GT-Cs (gunmetal centerpiece, polished lip) for my '06 S. I would like 18x7.5 (front) and 18x9 (rear) (18x8.5 at the least) so that I could run 225/40 18 (front) and 255/35 18 (rear). Well, the GT-Cs are only available in 18x7.5 +50 (front) and 18x8 +50 (rear).

Any suggestions?

Looks like you answered your own question, no?

You said you want a min of 8.5 in the rear but that the GT-C is only sold up to 8.0.

So that either eliminates that wheel, or eliminates the width you want.

It's hard to go wider wheel in the rear with only a +50 offset. If you get a better offset you can go as wide as 18x10.

I am looking for feedback like:

Sacrifice tire size and get the wheels you like...

Tire size is very important, look for another wheel...

etc...

What is an "acceptable" offset for the rear wheel?

Well, with an 8" wheel you could squeeze a 245 on the rear, and use a 205 or 225 on the front. If that's wide enough for you, go for it.

Personally it would bother me to get a nice set of aftermarket wheels that are narrower than the stock wheels, especially on the rear. If anything, you'd like to go wider for a more agressive look and more grip. But if you're mostly doing this for bling, who cares? Get the wheels and enjoy.

The offset is linked directly to the width.

On the rear, roughly, you need a 40 offset minimum for an 8" wheel, 46 for 8.5", 53 for 9", 59 for 9.5, and 65 for 10".

No, I am not mostly doing this for bling. I am more interested in performance enhancements. Therefore, I'd like a wider wheel to accommodate a larger tire.

Then you might want to consider going down to 17" wheels and looking closely at the weight of the wheels you're considering.
