Default Wheel Vibration

The guys at discount tire are going to mount/balance my new volks and potenzas. They wanted to know if I wanted to have it computer aligned to prevent wheel vibration and I wasn't sure if this was legit or a waste of money. THe brocure having the computer do it prevents

Excessive Tire Wear
Damage to suspension and steering parts
unsafe steering and handling
Unsafe driving condition

$15 / wheel

Bogus or a good investment?

I've heard of alignment of the suspension but never alignment of the wheels. It's not like they are going to stretch and bend the wheel. Usually, 15 bucks is the ball park figure for mounting and balancing. Are you saying this 15 bucks is above and beyond what they are charging you for mounting and balancing? If so, FORGET IT!

Mounted and balanced is about $100

The $15 is above and beyond that $100 so it comes to $160 about

Jim may have something to say but I'm of the opinion that this is a matter of "empty your wallet here". They may be called "Discount Tire" but they sure can't be called "Discount Tire Mounting and Balancing. 25 bucks US is a LOT for doing this. I pay 15 bucks Canadian per tire. I think you've been hosed. Don't give them any more of your money.
RUN!

Remember that these Volk Racing wheels that are being worked on here. I'm sure you can find a cheaper place, but what happens if they scratch your wheel?

You get what you pay for.
