Let me just put out it out there that I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these things. It's not a matter of looks v. performance. I'm genuinely asking because I don't know. Secondly, I went with 17 x 17.5 +42 because that's the closest to OEM specs for the front. I was more worried about the fronts then the backs because of fitment. If I could, I would sell the back two and upgrade them. As of now, I don't really know what to do! :-/ Ugh. Any thoughts on what the next steps should be? Sell them, try to recoup my losses and try again? Finding a staggered set is nearly impossible for a good price (under 1000) and I don't want to modify my fenders. I'm not too comfortable with running these wheels...

I'm sure you mean 17 x 7.5 +42 and not 17 x 17.5

The reason you wouldn't do this (or that it's popular opinion that it's not smart) is because you will not get enough rubber on the road to even equal stock grip levels, much less than if you invested in proper fitting wheels that actually increase contact patch and no DECREASE it.
Thank you! That's what I was looking for.

Fair enough. This is just my opinion but I think in your situation you are best served to stick with the stock wheels. I know they are kind of boring, but I wouldn't go with aftermarket wheels just for the sake of not being stock. It's not just the style of aftermarket wheel that makes a visual impact, it's the combination when paired with a lowered ride height and more aggressive offset. You are already limited in wheel selection based on price and not wanting to roll your fenders limits that even more. There are a couple wheels available in the $1200 - $1500 price range that would meet your ctiteria, OZ Allegrita and Enkei PFO1. They are both at least as wide as stock and run similar offsets while being a few pounds lighter. Keeping an eye out for a used set might be your best best.

PF01 aviable here for $1050 shipped in 17 x 8 +50 front and 9" +60 rear: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/907...lack-gold-sbc/

I'm going to keep with stock until I can sell these wheels. Thank you for your input. I've been really confused about offset, etc. that when I finally had some sort of idea on what to get...well...you see what happened. *sighs*

You could stagger the tires though with a 205/50R17 front and 225/45R17 rear with those wheels.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types (measured in millimeters).*

When comparing the same wheel width, the lower the offset the wheel moves towards the street where as the higher the offset the wheels will move towards the suspension.

Really stupid question but higher means a higher number (45 is higher than a 42) and lower is the opposite (42 is lower than 45)?
