Widening a wheel?
I have a set of wheels I really love from my old car. They're no longer made and I love the look of these wheels. The only bad part is that they're 16x7 only. Does anyone know of any way to widen the wheel to a 16x8 or 16x8.5? Any places that may be able to cut the wheel and weld in additional metal to widen it? Would this weaken the wheel too much making it dangerous? I'd assume that if it were done properly, strength wouldn't be an issue. Would this cost an insane amount?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I found a shop that does this in socal. They can do it via 2 methods:
1. Cut either the outter half or inner half of the rim hoop and weld on a new half rim hoop or...
2. Cut out the center section and weld it onto an entirely new rim hoop
It's not too pricey either...my quote was $175-$200/wheel for a 16".
