Default Winter driving.

I was wondering if anyone out there drives their car year round and lives in a part of the country where they have a potential for bad winters. Could anyone please share their winter driving experiences. Can't decide if I should keep the old prelude for winter, or just sell it. And I actually have a buyer, so it's kinda prompting me to consider it. Thanks, guys.

Keep it - if you can. It's nice to have a 'beater' car when the weather's not nice. My wife and I only have 2 cars (S2000 and Volvo S80/T6), and during the winter there are usually a couple of days where the S2000 can't get out of the neighborhood and we have to share the Volvo - Especially on the OEM SO2's. They SUCK!!!! on snow and slush. I couldn't even drive over the crown of the road in our neighborhood. Fortunately, the snow usually melts away quickly. If you can't keep the other car, you will have to by winter tires for the car. Kinda a bummer since you only have to deal with snow occassionally... I like having my sticky tires when it dries up.

On the plus side, when it is slippery, it can be fun to throw our nicely balanced cars around the streets....

Thanks, Jonas! I don't think that I can use studded tires around here. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding unstudded all weather tires or dedicated snows?

There are numerous tires available for the car. The two I have seen the most used are the Dunlop Winter Sport and the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22. We also carry the Michelin Plio Alpin for the car. All of these tires will make this car driveable in the winter. We will also have a wheel and tire package available on our web site soon.
IF I can help let me know.
Thank you

You need a bunch of these:

(Blizzacs and Winter Slaloms - no weight in back needed)

And some of these:

So you can do this:

But your car will look like this:

(No biggie. It cleans up real good if it's Zainoed.)

Bottom line: I can see driving no other car for the winter (and I've owned a Grand Cherokee). The S2000 is waaaay more fun.

i use Blizzak MZ-01's - stock sizes (205/225) on stock wheels - NEVER had a problem.....i highly recommend them!!

disclaimer: i believe that they ARE NOT speed rated....but if you're ripping around town in winter, you are an IDIOT!!
