Default Winter wheel/tire options for AP2?

Hello all,

It has recently dropped below freezing here in Maryland and I'm still driving on my summer tires with my recently purchased MY07 S2k. I'm looking for some AP1 wheels to put on - do you have any good winter tire recommendations for these wheels that wont mess my speedometer up?

Also are there any other inexpensive but good winter wheel options besides the AP1 wheels?

AP1's are probably going to be the cheapest route for you to go. You can pick up a set of AP1s for less than $200. Stock size AP1 tires will not effect your speedometer. 205/55R16 and 225/50R16. I've been a fan of Bridgestone Blizzak tires, but I have been hearing good things about Dunlop snow tires also.

Thanks for the responses - I've decided to go with the AP1 rims with a set of blizzaks 205/55R16 and 225/50R16 as you recommended to me. Tire rack shows a gajillion different blizzak models though! I don't plan on driving the s2k in very deep snow, just for the cold temperatures and for peace in mind in case it snows/rains on me at work and I have to drive home. Which model would best suit me?

I just had some Firestone Winterforce put on my AP 1 rims per Jim's reccommendation of something a bit less expensive than Blizzaks or Dunlop Wintersport M3s. They're in the OEM staggared configuration.

I think they were 349 shippped. I've put about 500 miles on them with no complaints so far!

on the rear ap1 rims would it be ok to run a 205/55/16? Thinking of buying some blizzak's off of a fellow s2k owner who did this on all 4 rims for 3 winters straight and said it worked great. Makes sense it would work maybe little better hence a skinnier tire, but is it a smart or ok thing to do?

Good luck trying to find Blizzak's now. I have been trying to find them for a week, they are not available anywhere.

+1...

This is what I'm running now. Toyo Garit KX's on black steelies. I love the winter-fighter look!

Are you running a staggered setup? Do you plan to drive in a lot of snow?
