Default Winter wheels

This applies to people who do not have aftermarket summer wheels and have winter tires on their stock wheels.

I was wondering what most of you guys do when you need to switch to winter tires. Do you buy another set of wheels or do you just swap the tires on your current set? I just started looking around for a set but havent found any yet. What is the typical cost to have tires switched?

prob depends on the weather where you are... cant tell from your info-
if you get just a little rain- s03s are decent and you can keep them all year.

if you get lotsa rain or worse, then you prob will want to have a set of winter and a set of nonwinter wheels if its your daily driver.

I live in NJ which gets a decent share of rain\snow\sleet in the winter. We had a lot of snow last year and this is my daily driver so I def need a good winter tire.

I bought a second set of used OEM wheels to mount my snow tires on and I think that is the way to go. I'm able to switch from one to the other in a few minutes, in the middle of winter. I don't like to run my snow tires any more than I need to, so for me, another set of wheels was my choice.

VTECorona,

Italianbucwheat, based in northern NJ, was selling a set of snow tires with aftermarket wheels a few weeks ago. Don't know if they are still available or not. You may want to PM him or search for his "for sale" thread in the "Metro NYC" section. I decided to pass on the tires and get a winter beater instead.

It recently cost me $6 to mount 1 new tire and then about $10 to balance.

I'd suggest buying 18's for summer and using the stock for winter.
