Default Wire Spoked Wheels ... Do They Exist For S2K?

Remember the chromed wire-spoked wheels that Jag used to have on their 1970ish XKE's?

Well I'm looking for some that are a fit for the S2K. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Has anyone come across these type wheels in their shopping travels?

Heres a pic ...

I've not seen that style of wheel available for the S2000, and due to the very unusual and high offset of the S2000 wheel, I doubt that they are being made even by a custom builder. That's because the design of a spoked wheel can't tolerate high offsets - the attachment point of the spoke to the "hub" needs to be closer to the centerline of the wheel than in steel or alloy designs.

On an aesthetic note, I don't think the classic look of a spoked wheel matches the modern, high-tech look and functionality of the S2000. They look proper and fantastic on old Jaguars, MGs, Healeys, etc., but not on an S2000 ... or Porsche Boxster either.

Wire wheels, are you joking. If you are serious do not get them they are a pain in the a$$ to clean.

I've had a couple cars with wire wheels....they suck...they're a pain in the you know what to keep clean...they needed constant attention.

Now the knock offs on the other hand.....

I was always curious about a set of Boyd Coddington retro style wheels. They make them in staggered form but not with the right offsets. Maybe I'll have some fun tonight and photoshop the wire ones and the Boyd's on an S2000 just to see what each looks like.

First off, thanks to all for the responses.

Coraldoc - RE: the look and its appropriateness for an S2k ... if Turbodriven does indeed have a chance to Photoshop them onto an S2k then we'll know a little more about the look & if its too odd
RE: the offsets - As I look more closely at these wheels the hubs do seem to project out quite a bit from the rim don't they?

Fltsfshr - when you say "knock offs", what are you refering to. Are there similar wheels that have a better fit and aren't a PIA to keep clean like bullet44 was saying?

I was referring to knock off hubs....only old wire wheels have those i think....spin the hub remove the wheel.

Yes, this is certainly an aesthetic judgement, and my comment is simply my opinion.

The S2000 has even larger offsets than the Jag, so thehub will stick out even more in an S2000 application.

Plus I'm sure they are twice as heavy as the OEM wheels
