Default wrecked my s2k

well I was driving down the road and it started raining. I wasent even going that fast. maybe 35-45 and I started hydroplaning, lost control, and smacked my front bumper into a car. the thing that gets me is that I was going in a straight line. and not flooring it but it still came out from underneath me. point of my story is. Is there any tires out there that hold up good in the rain. but also good for the street? and what is the biggest size I can run in the back of my 2001?

A wider tire will hydroplane easier.

Are your tires bald? I drive in heavy rain all the time and my car seems to stop just fine, especially at those low speeds.

Let's not forget that the AP2 is a good bit less twitchy than the AP1's are. That being said, I drove my HTRZIII's in the rian today and they were great.

The tires I got on mine are pretty wide and do well.. General Exclaim UHP
265/30R19 XL 93W BSW ... or whatever your size I do recommend these tires...No nose on the highway and great on the street with snow and rain.

yeah you guys are right. my left back tire is bald. I just got the car not to long ago. I just havent had the money to get new tires. and please save all of the abuse about driving it in the rain on a bald tire. I learned my lesson. I just want to know what the best tire I should buy for my rear.

You should always replace the rear tires in pairs or replace all four at once. Any mismatched diameter in the rear is likely cause excessive wear on the torsen diff. There is quite a lot of debate, (Literally hundreds of threads on this forum alone) of what constitutes the 'best' tire for an S2000. Without knowing anything about your location, budget, driving habits, proirities etc etc etc. I cannot make a tire recommendation. An allegedly decent budget tire is made by Sumitomo (search) Probably the current top contender for 'best' street performance tire is the Bridgestone RE 01R.
good luck
drive safe!
