Default driving in the rain, tips?

hi everyone.

i just got my s2k about 5 months ago and love driving it. drives and feels amazing, but when it rains, i absolutely hate driving it. even driving straight, my back will kick out. taking turns on on-ramps to freeways and interchanges i almost always slide a little bit, even at really slow speeds. i dont mind the slide as i can correct it easily, but i dont like doing it with a lot of cars around; which there always seems to be, i DD my car. i've asked a couple of my friends that own s2ks and they said that they never experienced this which leads me to think that maybe its my tires.

when i bought my car, it came with kuhmo kh18's stock size on ap1 wheels ('00 s2k). after doing some research, they seem to be all season tires that offer the normal all season balance of wet and dry grip. i was wondering if anyone had experience with these tires or if getting different tires would make driving in the rain much better?

thanks

check your tire psi might be real high causing the tire to be hard causing loss of grip gl

What are "slow speeds" exactly? I've seen posts from people who've said they've "slowed down to 60" in the rain.

How's your tread? Have you specifically checked the inner tread on the rears?

From my experience with Kumho, they suck in the rain. I had a set of Kumho ecsta 711s on my '89 RX7 and they were complete shit in the rain as were the Ecsta AST that I had put onto my S when I first bought it.

I will never buy another tire from Kumho, I run Nexen N3000 now and absolutely love them. They have awesome dry grip and great wet traction and you can still kick them out wet or dry if you want.

We carry Kumho and I have never heard of that tire. I have tires that are going to be a lot better than you have now.

As far as tips for driving in the rain. Slow down and be careful. Do not lift when the car starts to hydro-plane and brake in a straight lin not in corners.

thanks for the responses. tire pressure was good but tire tread is pretty bad. bought the car with pretty good tread on the tires and the rears in passed that bar in the tire groove (dont know the name); i've put 7k miles on these tires.

think im going to buy new tires soon. i have rims on order so hopefully i can hold out till then.
