Year Old Tires
They've been collecting dust for about a year, are they still good to run at the Dragon? i.e. very spirited and dangerous road, grip is essential. Or would I be better off leaving the Reo50a's on the car? A less grippy tire, but not bad.
Depends on how much tread and how many heat cycles. I personally really like the RE050A's. I have only run PS's on a Porsche, definitely an excellent tire. The RE050A's are a great wet tire as well though IMO, and I have always encountered water at some point during a dragon trip.
Just an FYI, if you bag tires up in dark colored plastic bags (Hefty) and keep them away from any ozone source, (Washer/dryer, ventilation fan, any other electric motors) they will last much, much longer. What we call "dry rot" on a tire is actually accumulated ozone and UV damage.

well I've prolly heat cycled them a few times, and there's about 50% tread up front and 40% in the rear. It's not the tread that I'm worried about, it's the age. They have lived inside my garage the entire time, so there's hardly any UV damage.
I thought they would be fine until I spoke to a local expert and he explained to me that unused tires get hard without use and that after a year these PS2s run the risk of being rocks.

I'd probably run the Bridgestones to be safe, and try the PS2's out at AutoX, if they're grippy great, if not, then you can enter a drift competition!
At least you're not paying to mount/dismount them an extra time. Though I have definitely stored tires more than a year, once you heat-cycle them a few times they seem to harden up more than unused tires.
