Default Yet another question for JIM...

Im looking at buying the 18" BBS LM's pretty soon, Which tires would be best, I would like to stay around $5-600 If possible, Right now Im running the Potenza RE050 which I think are stock right? When comparing on the survey results on tire rack it seems to be rated lower than a good amount of the other tires. I would like to stay as good if not better than these if possible. Also would like to run 255's in the rear, So... What ya think? Thanks in advance

i think all bridgestones are overpriced but i love them.
look at the dunlop direzza star specs for a good summer tire. might be a bit more than you want to spend but i am not sure since i have no priced the 18s.
that tire is loads stickier than the oem tires.

nevermind, just looked at prices. i dont think you are gonna be able to stay in the 600 mark for 4 18in tires. the cheapest is like 175 for the rears.

The best that I would have would be on the General Exclaim UHP and they are 94.00 front and 158.00 rear. They are going to be good wearing and good wet traction. They are not the best in performance handling.
If I can help let me know.

One more question for ya Jim..
I was just wondering if you had any information on the "pay later" option on tirerack, I Want to order my LM's and am a little short and figure that may give me the time to get the rest of the money and still let me order them.. How is it done by approving you for the pay later? If im not mistaken you will have about a month to pay right? Just wondering what kind of credit you need to be approved, any info would be great thanks very much

Something very strange about forking out upwards of $4000 for wheels and then trying to cheap out on the tires, which are arguably more important.

If you got 17" BBS LM's instead of 18", you'd save $480 which you could apply to the tire budget, *and* you'd have about 8 lb. less-massive wheels.

AND you'd save on the order of $200 on 225/255 tires (17" vs. 18") as well.

the pay later is a thing through "billmelater.com" .......not sure on the credit crunch how they are working these days but i believe billmelater is through citi bank
they approve you, ship out your product then you get a monthly statement like a credit card in the mail. the interest rate is 19.99 if i remember right.

Not looking to cheap out.. If I need to go better I will for sure, are the RE050's stock tires? Because according to tirerack there ratings is much lower than some of the cheaper tires. I would like to stay in the 600 area but if 800 is going to be much better than I will of course go there.

... Looking at it it looks like tire rack just dropped the 17" there not there any more even saying not in stock, Good thing thats not what I was saving.. At first thats what I had wanted I still hate that the 18"s are so heavy, but when looking at the LM's in 17" I just dont really like them.
