Yoko AVS Intermediate
We are closing out the tires and we have some very good pricing. The 205/55R16 is 58.00 and the 245/45R16 is 64.00. Not a bad tire to burn up on the car. They have excellent dry handling and good wet traction. When this tire was first released it was the top of the line Yokohama tire.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Jim,
That's a killer price on a decent tire. But now I don't know what to do. I'd planned on replacing my rear SO2's this spring at about 12-15k miles then replace all four with SO2's in the spring of 2004. But your closeout has me wondering if I should just grab a set of four AVS's right now. Any words of wisdom to help guide me. By the way ultimate adhesion while important is not my #1 priority in tire selection.

I think the AVS would not be as good a handling tire as the S02 but it is a good performance tire for the money. The way this car wears tires you could get a set of four of the AVS and save the S02 for the next set.
If I can help let me know.

Jim:
Can you get me some pricing for a +1" on the AVS's. I have the S-03's right now and think these will probably be better!!!! I dunno the height of the tire side wall but its gonna be 205 up front and 245 rear. Standard rolling distance to keep the odo the same.
I will probably do 2 rears and 1 set of fronts since I will burn through 2 rears to every 1 set of fronts.
An aside...........is it a total NO NO to run different rears than fronts. I am thinking I might just pick up a set of these AVS rears and run my S-03's up front. I blew through those rears in like 2 and a half months!!!!
Thanks for your advice.

Pinky, as a generalization, if the sidewalls of the rears are softer than the fronts the car gets spooky feeling (SO-3's seem to have pretty soft sidewalls so you're probably cool there). Also, if the rears don't stick as well as the fronts, things can get spooky too.
So, w/ SO-3's in the front and AVS int's out back, driving in the wet could get a little dicey
but it's your world baby (plus, them are damn cheap, hard to pass up .... just don't be counting your saved money backwards in a wet ditch
).

The AVS is 205/55R16 58.00 and 245/45R16 is 59.00. We have them in stock currently but I would not recommend to run the S03 and the AVS together.
If I can help let me know.

In the 17" they don't have a good size front tire.
I also would not recommend to mix the AVS and the Kumho tires. The Kumho would be better in the wet and the AVS better in the dry.
