Yoko es100's
I just bought a pair of Yoko es100's today for my rear tires. I bought them from NTB. I was unfamiliar with the tire however I called a friend of mine to look the tires up online to see what other people thought. My friend told me that the es100's were summer tires only. I inquired with NTB and they said that they assured me that they were all-season and that they deal strictly with all-season tires. Well I went ahead and got the tires. Can anyone please let me know if I'm going to be able to wear these in the winter? I have 30 days to return them, but I dont want to wreck my car in the winter. Yoko's site didnt list them as either summer or winter.

If you click at Tirerack banner at the upper right conner and a few pages later, you will be able to see that ES100 is classified as Ultra High Performance Summer tire. NTB did not told you the correct data.
If you like to get all season tires for your S, Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S is near the top of the Ultra High Performance All-Season tires and many S2k owners happied with this tire.

I saw the listing on Tire Rack's website before I made this post. However what we have here is two different tire companies disputing what the classification of the tire is. Just because tire rack says it is summer, doesnt mean it is a summer tire. Just like because NTB says it is all season does it mean it is all season. Where is the info coming from--and does anyone heard anything via the manufacturer? TR-S2k, I'm not saying you are wrong, but how do we know that tire rack has the correct listing? Thanks for the input and the tire suggestion.
All-season tires carry "M+S" on the sidewall, regardless of the speed rating, i.e., there are high performance summer tires (speed rated H), performance summer tires, touring summer tires and then there are ultra high performance all-season tires (speed rated V or higher)
they suck in the snow. no matter what the ratings said, i had es100's on my hatch, and in light snow they suck.
i used to live in boston, so i'm very familiar with driving in the snow, but the es100 were HORRIBLE in just light snow.

Max and ultra high performance summer tires are probably good for around 40F, other summer tires with lower speed rates may be down to freezing temp. When the tires are cold ( after a cold start) drive it easy the first couple miles so that the tires, oil, transmission and cluth fluids are at operation temperature.
Es100's are summer only. They are NOT good in any type of snow... Imagine a duck on a frozen pond and you get the idea.
And um, you do know its bad to mix front and back tires right? Ie running all seasons in the back and summer in front is bad. Actually running different tire models front and back is bad. Don't put es100's on the back while running s02's in the front.
Same tires all 4 corners man. Having different traction characteristics front and back is a good way to loose control and wipe out.
