Yokohama AO32R or Toyo RA-1
I like these since I ca keep the same stagger and not have to change the front sway bar. I found the SO-2's to hold up great on the track at fall colors and had great traction until I wore them down to the carcass. I have read reviews on the Yoko's and people say it is as loud as truck mud tires, I find this hard to believe. The RA-1 seems like a good competition tire also. I will be running these as street tires also since I rarely take the S out in rain and the SO-2's with a bunch of auto x lasted only 9k miles front(flipped once) and rear.
Whoever has tried either one, please let me know your thoughts.
Jim, any thoughts and can you get the Toyo's?

Have not had a chance to try either on my S2000, BUT I used the Yokohama on a Talon TSiAWD I had in the past, and the RA-1 on a previous Eclipse. Both were great, the A032R seemed to perform better for me during dragracing events and were outperformed in autocross/roadracing by the RA-1. I have not gotten to use my S2000 the way I inteded to because of a little thing called a WIFE!
Just a datapoint: Most of the comptetively tracked S2000s out here on the west coast (except those on slicks of course) run RA-1s. I can't speak towards auto-x preferences. No one I know runs the A032s, myself included.
I can only comment on the AO32 as I've not tried any other "R" compound tyres.
Compared to the SO2's there streets ahead, lot stiffer side walls but I must admit noise wise they do have a good "rumble" its not that loud but never the less its there and you are aware of it, the grip more than compensates for the noise though.
Wet wise, not to bad, they do cope OK but standing water can un-nerve the car slightly but as long as your ready for it and sensible its fine.
That all said this next year I'm going to get the AO48's, there suppose to be quieter and cope with the wet significantly better.

Looks like the A048 is for 18" sizes.
There certainly is in the UK, don't really know about your availability in the States.
