Yokohama Avid V4S evaluation
I chose the Yokohama Avid V4S to replace my OEMs for these reasons:
-1- Made in the same sizes as the OEMs
-2- Same traction rating as the OEMs ("AA")
-3- Same temperature rating as the OEMs ("A")
-4- They cost less than HALF as much as the OEMs (around $500 installed)
-5- The treadwear rating is 3X's the OEMs ("540" vs "180")
-6- I read comments from people who've bought them at TireRack.Com, and most claimed the performed extremely well in wet weather and were remarkably quiet. I use my car as a daily driver, so for me those are significant factors.
-7- Made in the U.S.A.
I didn't expect them to handle as well as the OEMs and knew they were not Z rated. That was fine by me since I don't take my S2000 to race courses and don't plan on exceeding 110 mph. But don't get me wrong, I am very 'Type A' and do make use of the VTEC & push the car around windy roads in NC when I get the chance.
Well after driving the new Yokohamas for a year I can say they clearly handle better in wet weather than the OEMs, I hear much less road noise (even the wife noticed), and they are not going to wear out anywhere near 21K like the OEMs did for me. (I expect I'll get +40K on the Yokohamas based on the treadwear I've seen to date.) As far as dry road handling goes, if the OEMs are a '10' I would rate these a solid '9.5'.
Overall I am very impressed with these tires and have recommended them to many others. I count four of my friends and family that went with my recommendation, and all were extremely pleased with how much better they perform (a Mazda 626, Volvo T5, Infinity G35, and an Accord). If you use your S2000 as a daily driver and want some great tires for much less $$$, I highly recommend the Yokohama Avid V4S. If you give them a try, let me know what you think.

I am looking to get these tires for the rear too.
One question: What size rears did you get? (225/50/16 or 245/45/16?)
