245/255 - What are you experiences?
Hey everyone. I recently decided to up from 215/255 to 245/255. I wanted to retain a very close ratio to the 215/45/17s as well as still keep a little stagger. My wheels are 8" front and 9" rear. My supporting mods are the KW Clubsports, Eibach front and rear sway, rigid collars front and rear and roll center adjusters. So far, the car feels great to me. I've had experience with owning and unwieldy 255 square setup, with nothing more than buddy club RSDs but this feels a bit different. There's a lot of disposable front grip/turn in. But not so much that you're constantly making course corrections to keep the car in line. I'll be doing some more tuning with the bound/rebound settings to further soften up the rear but for now, I'm having a great time. My rear sways are currently at their softest settings and fronts at their stiffest.
Has anyone else had any experience with this setup? What were your impressions?
Thanks.

My thought exactly, on the piece about the numbing. I had staggered wheels in the past and I felt the wheel lose a little feedback when I went to 255s in the past (front). I found a pretty handy chart that shows how 245/40s are almost the same as 215/45s in diameter. I still want to keep an element of stagger with my setup.
What made you not a fan of your 245/255 setup?

MY2000 Ap1 here running 245/255 on 9" square rims, HKS GT coils, AP1 front sway, Ap2 rear sway. Came from 225/255 and I like the turn-in response of the 245s. Was worried that 245s would have too much from grip but it feels great, will probably run 255 square next time.

How was the handling for you? You said it felt great. At the limit, how was the behavior? Was it tail happy, neutral or did it still under steer?

At this point sell your wheels and just go square. Even will allow you to rotate front to rear. You may also consider putting your OEM rear bar back on.

The formula for non-staggered seems so simple. Fat front sway, OEM/thinner rear or No Sway = Profit. I'd rather play a little more with the suspension.
As far as wheel rotation, I'm fine. It's definitely not my daily so tire longevity is a factor but isn't tantamount for me.

There is not gana be huge difference on 245 front and 255 rears. But u loose the ability to rotate so u loose money by not really using all the tires up. U do get better turn in with a 245 front but loose a tiny bit of grip.
