Any decent tires available for 16"
Hey guys, looking for some new tires for my s2k. According to the sticky ill need 205/55/16 for the front and 245/45/16 for the rear.
I prefer the the Dunlop direzzas but of course those arent available in that size. The ecstas arent available either. Now the R-S2s are available in that size so am I pretty much stuck getting this tire or having to spend a fortune for RE-01rs?

Rs-2's are allways a good bet. I just switched to Toyo T1r's and they handle good and have good grip in the wet. The side walls are close to the Rs-2'but the ride is quieter. Both tires are offered in the 205 / 245 combo and you could get them from Edgeracing.com for a good price.

You do NOT need 245/45-16 for the rear. The BEST performing tires for the AP1 are only available in 225/50-16 for the rear, which is FINE!
Die, stickie, die!
That said, the RS-2's are very good performance tires, I've gotten good usage out of mine (205/50-16 F, 245/45-16 R on 16x7 F, 16x8 R wheels) on road and track. They are cheaper than the RE01R, RE050A PP, Sport Z1 *Spec, etc., but I doubt that they offer as much ultimate grip as those tires, even in 245/45 vs. 225/50.
Tire Rack test results bear this out:

RE760 is a pretty decent tire as well, good compromise between stickiness and longevity.
Kumho ECSTA MX is a good cheap sticky tire
the Direzza Z1 star spec is supposed to be a great tire and there's a rebate on them right now.
plenty of decent to great options

Yeah, both of these sizes run wider than the relatively narrow hankooks. The actual difference between the 245 hankook and the 225 RE-01R is about 0.8" in favor of the hankooks. The Dunlops run even wider than the Bridgestones. You should be totally fine with the 205/225 combination.
