The fast SpecE30 guys still shave them for rain just 4/32. You aren't racing, so you really don't need a set of rain tires for doing time trials. If you are just putting in laps bring a set of street tires. The days when there won't be a single dry session will be few and far between and even a shaved RA1 is going to beat someone that only brought Hoosier non H2O that isn't even going out on track. The first NASA event at NCM last year we had rain all day Sunday. The majority of TT cars either packed up and went home or ran one scary ass lap to get a time in before packing up. It was me in my SpecE30 on full depth RA1s and a Miata on Hoosier H2O out there all day setting fastest laps.
