Default Rs4, Z3, or Re71 for boosted street car

So I getting ready for the nice weather in New York, I picked up these RPF1 SBC 17x9 +45 standard setup with a burnt up pair of 255/40/17 RS3’s. I just rolled my rear fenders and did a tan relocate. Currently running Tien springs on stock shocks (unsure how I feel about the height)
Im turbo making 540hp 400trq. Def wanna keep the 255 rear and they don’t rub on the test drive but I’m torn if I should run 255 in the front also. I really don’t wanna destroy my stock fenders. I had Star specs z1 in rear and z2 in front on my stock rims and loved them. This car has never seen a track and prob won’t anytime soon.

Main question: what size should I go in front I drove it last night no rubbing at all with the 255 but they’re bald so I’m sure that will change? Second considering this is a street car what tires? I hate the tread pattern of the rs4 but they’re the cheapest/good reviews/longevity, Re71 best performance same price as z3. Or z3 cause I love the look of them but no one has them or has any reviews on them.

First off you need to roll the front fenders. Just because they didn't rub on 1 test drive doesn't mean they won't rub. The fronts are also a lot harder to hear rubbing than the rears are. If you don't want to destroy your fenders roll them now before the tires catch a fender.

I really like my AD08r's but they do cost quite a bit more and I am not boosted. If you don't drive it that often the 71r's tend to have the best reviews for pure grip but they do wear faster because of this. There is other boosted guys that will be able to weigh in on this.

at over 500whp is you want full traction you pretty much need to go with drag radials. I'm at 588whp and i run a 295/35/17 kumho xs and i dont even have traction in the first 2 gears. With a 255 rs4 or z3 i dont even have traction in 3rd gear. I have 275/40/17 nitt0 nt05r drag radials for drag racing and for when i actually want grip. With the drag radials i dead hook in all gears even in 1st gear. But of course with drag radials you car will handle like crap in the corners.

as for the front i also run an rpf1 17x9+45 with a 255/40/17 on stock fenders that are 100% rolled flat and in my opinion its way to aggressive. With -2 camber when i hit hard bumps it will rub. It stop rubbing once i set the front to -2.5 camber. But going up drive ways with the wheel turned is the real problem. The tires can catch and crack the fender. This happen on my passenger side.

I def don’t want drag radials, I have a stock diff and I’m not gonna launch the car anytime soon. I just love the power up top plus I have boost by gear and rpm so I’m not to worried about traction that way. What suspension are you on and how low are you?

Nitto NT01s >>> drag radials for this application, IMO...
After trying MPSS and then RE71Rs on my 550hp FD I finally found bliss with the NT01s for street + track usage
If you're not tracking the car, you could get by with RE71R or less ultimate grip but longer-wearing RS4s.

You could run 255/40-17 rears and 235/40-17 fronts, which are narrower but also much shorter vs. 255 or 245. 235/40 fronts with some camber, you *might* get by without rolling...

With better offsets you could easily run wider tires, +45 no bueno for decently wide tires...

+45 is fine it just needs rolled fenders. Even with a narrower tire.

I have koni yellow on the softest setting and the off the shelf ground control coil overs. I try to set the ride high as high as possible so I’m maybe 1/2 lower than stock.

Looks like the front wheels are sticking out an inch past the front fenders. Terrible lol. Likely due to stock - 0/-.5 camber. You need a good -2 to -2.5 to get them to tuck, and id run a 245, not 255. The rear you want the least amount of camber before you rub to get the best strait line traction. Id give up on some lateral grip due to minimal camber then going with a sloppy handling DR any day.

RE71 or NT01 are going to be your best options.

Not if you ever get into big opposite lock. First time you catch a big slide, that outside fender is toast. I destroyed a rolled-flat fender at +48 with -2.6 camber and a worn 255 tire. If you just tip-toe around town the fender might survive for a while.

At +45, you can pull the fender yourself or wait for the tire to do it for you, but either way that fender is going to get pulled sooner or later.

Most likely gonna go 245 in the front to save my fenders alittle bit

No one has experience with the Dunlop Z3 yet right?

RS4 seem to be the tire everyone has been buying lately

re71 are always a favorite. Haven’t seen anything on the Nitto NT01s

im well aware my front camber needs to be changed to -2.0:-2.5 as soon as I get these tires and I’m def gonna roll my front fenders. The rear looks like it has -1.5 camber or so atm but I’ll fine tune that when tires are on.
