hey angela...
HK was awesome...it was my 3rd trip there in 4 years (just like China) and my first visits to Sydney and Japan. For the HK trip this time, we ate a lot of Macau food at some local restraunts, I stayed in several hotels, including the New World Ren. Had some good hot-pot soup, etc. It was before Christmas, so it was quite strange to see the "Holiday Decorations" up everywhere. Interesting to note/compare HK to China in that the "women" dressed in "elf" costumes were generally happy/smiling in HK, and generally NOT happy in China...That was my observation anyway...my co-workers didn't seem to notice, but it is hard not to notice a whole bunch of pretty women who do not seem happy!
PS - Southern China was cold! 50F...yeah I know it was like -5F in Chicago before Christmas...but you need to understand the world...Southern China is not exactly a wealthy area...there is no AC in the summer...and no HEAT in the winter...50F outside was OK, but in the office it was just plain cold! We all wore our coats, and drank lots of cheap "office" tea all day long!
