Default Looking for a Netbook

So I've decided to my my data logging to a netbook instead of my PDA. i'm looking for something with windows XP, solid state drive, and long battery life. Processor speed is somewhat important, but given I'm looking for $300ish netbook, my guess is it's all in the same ballpark. Have any of you (fellow) nerds done the leg work on the research? It looks like I have several options, just not sure which one to go with.

I say go for a real laptop. The form factor of a netbook isn't valuable enough to me.

Though, for sheer size and form factor, I REALLLLLLY wanted an OQO.

Apple is rumored to be developing a netbook right now... might be worth the wait.

Thanks for the tips guys.
The reason for the netbook, as opposed to laptop, is the long battery life. If I can avoid bringing adapters to an autocross, I'll be a lot happier. Plus, I want something small I can take with me on trips or use at panera. Also, solid state drive since I don't like the idea of a 5400 rpm hard drive and 1 lateral g.

That apple looks awesome, but my data logging software is windows only.

I wonder what the OS will look like... if its a full-blown OS X 10.4 or higher you'll be able to run parallels and have the best of both worlds.

Some of the Asus EEE PC models look really nice, and I was doing some looking at reviews for a coworker of mine and the Asus models appeared to have kick ass battery life. I might grab one if I see a real great deal somewhere. I just don't use a laptop enough to make a full blown one worth it, and my current Sony Vaio is pretty old and beat up.

You can get a SSD in a regular laptop.

Pat, between owning one netbook and helping several other people out with netbook purchases, I would be more than happy to give you advice, but it might be easier just in person. I'll call you today and see if you still plan on doing that cruise.
