Default Michigan, please pimp my PL8!

On every car I've owned, I've had Michigan's basic blue background, white letter license plate. This year, they are phasing out those good, simple plates, and I think the new choices are freakin' ugly. See the available Michigan plates here. They make ~25 different plates and all of them are nasty. Why do they all have to have white backgrounds! (My winter beater is black, and a white plate is not going to look good.) They should offer simple black background plates (like the old days -- pre-1982) with your choice of white, silver, chrome, or gold letters. Personally, I'd pay a pretty big premium for black plates with chrome letters, and I'm sure the gold lettering will be a big hit in the D. The state could make more money with some respectable looking plates, don't you think?

I must say though, that the "Spectacular Peninsulas" plate does offer some intriguing (and dirty) vanity plate options. It wouldn't be hard to scratch off/paint over the last "s" in "Peninsulas" and the following are all available:
IHAVEA
SEE MY
TASTEMY

H8MYPL8 is also currently available, for a person like me. Although, I'm sure by posting this, a couple of the above options may disappear quickly.

White backgrounds reflect better for speed cameras.

haha, those special cause graphics look like they came out mid-90s print shop deluxe. if i didn't go to any of those universities i'd just get the normal michigan one.

on a side note, i know someone with the UofM "M" plate...cop wrote her a ticket but put the "M" as part of the license plate number, so she just never paid it (in IL).

Are you bored with license plate graphics that "look like they came out mid-90s print shop deluxe"?

Unhappy with changes made by your department of state or department of motor vehicles?

Sick of law enforcement's ease in determining your identity?

Have you already done away with your license plate completely?

Do you feel that the bumper cut out for the license plate ruins the overall styling of your vehicle?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, please sign my petition to have Rick manufacture and sell a license plate cut out cover. The cover would attach easily to the factory license plate mounting holes, and once installed, be flush with the rest of the bumper giving that finished, no license plate look. *Note: not legal in all states, except TX.

...just kidding.
