It depends on exactly where you plan to live. I am guessing you are Navy, and you are referring to Great Lakes Naval base, right? If that's the case, then you'd be looking at Southern Wisconsin or Northern Illinois.

The cost of living in WI is less than IL, but I prefer IL.

Either way, the S2k crew is pretty tight knit. It's a great place to live, just remember that the roads are not sports car friendly 3-4mos out of the year. And right now, it's F'ing COLD out.

You might try to PM https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showuser=11464 EVF2000 (Rob.) He is in the Navy, and has just moved from WI to San Diego. He may be able to offer some deeper insight.

are you sure? cause i live here too and the roads are either, snow covered, salt covered, pot hole capital of america, backed up with traffic, or under construction.

i think it more like the roads are sports car friendly only 3-4 months out of the year.

I'm sure I can find good roads that are not backed up, pot-holed, or under construction 8-9mos out of the year. Salt or snow? Nope, I can't do anything about that.

If you don't know the good roads, then it sux to b u.

In WI, the Kettle Morainne area is great. In IL, runs to Galena or Starved Rock are always a good time.
