Choppy waves can break the boat apart.
I'd hate for people to not have a boat to sail on; especially those that have been sailing for a few years.
If the boat breaks apart, then all the people in the water either will drown, or have to get onto smaller boats (which could all go in different directions).

Yeah but then the adventure is lame. A part of what makes an adventure a true adventure is when everyone works together. the boat may break but as long as the bond is strong, we may all ge to shore safely.

that's relying on the boat too much. a lone boat in the middle of the ocean gets no where. but take some drunk hyperactive shipmates (horny too) then the boat may get somewhere. the boat itself doesnt justify a voyage, its the crew that makes it happen.
