i was thinking this morning and got completely stumped...

we use "ish" when we talk about something that is alike. For example: the word "childish" to act like a child. Even if we're taking to a geezer, if they're acting like a bastard child, then they are childish.

Then what about the following:

Irish
Scottish
British
Turkish
Finnish(?)
Swedish

I thought it was only for words ending in "land" (exclude britian, sweden and Turkey for now) but then again what about "iceland" and "new foundland" which is all around the above three countries. We call them Icelander and Newfoundlander... which is really strange.

But then again, why is Irish, Scottish and British end in "ish". If you are born in ireland, then you aren't "ish" cuz you aren't pretending to be one.

any clues?

well not alot of things make sense too.. take for example the calender.

i still have no clue what the months of the year are.. never bothered to learn because of this reason.

it makes no focking sense.

january to august is just names but september to december is based on counting.

september in spanish is "septiembre" which is derived from siete, which stands for 7. Then why the heck is it the month of 9 when it sounds like 7?

Octover is "octubre" which is derived from octo- 8. why is it 10 then?

november is "noviembre" derived from nueve- 9 but its on the 11...

finally december is "deciembre" derived from deice(?) -10 but its on the 12...

thus nothing makes sense..

and the british are stupid.
