UMW Formula 1 Discussion Thread
It was a snoozer. The most interesting thing was Vet not getting out of Q1, but that was saturday.
It is interesting seeing Nico win 3 in a row (right when they no longer matter.) I wonder if the team will continue to favor him going into 2016, or if they will revert to favoring LewLew.

Lewlew says the car hasn't been the same since Singapore, there's also quite a bit of rumors around that Merc turned Lewis' motor down in at least the last race since Nico's motor was older. I dunno how much I put into any of that though, I think Lewis has switched off a bit since winning the WDC.
I'm hoping Ferrari get their act together for next year, along with McLaren.

If RBR used the Renault engine deal as a ploy, that's bad. I did find it odd they supposedly annulled the agreement with Renault without another engine deal made, so the article could be true. Dunno.
Not sure who they're going to get as independent engine suppliers though, the old ones are long gone, and F1 is too damn expensive for new ones to come into without some serious background experience.
What a mess.
Did you see the German TV interview with Bernie and Mosley? Basically this story is a take off from that. Essentially if you watch that interview, and pick some key "talking points" from it you will see that:
Bernie doesn't want the manufacturers controlling F1
He especially doesnt want the engine manufacturers controlling who will be competitive
He's really mad about the lack of noise from the engines
He tired of the "Ferrari" veto thing
Therefore, he and Mosley hatched the whole Red Bull engine crisis, and conspired with Mateschitz, who has a team but not his own engine.
They basically went to Mercedes, Ferrari, and Honda looking for someone to supply RBR an engine, knowing full well none of them (for various reasons) would do so.
Article alleges that RBR never actually, technically cancelled their contract with Renault.
Armed with "the engine suppliers are running amok. They won't even supply RBR", they go to the FIA and get a new rule passed.
Now Bernie can overrule any regulation he doesn't like.
Therefore: New Engine Proposal
The master manipulator gets his way.
Saying all that, I hope it happens. Independent engine suppliers, with a simpler ruleset can only make F1 more interesting and competitive

I did see the Max & Bernie interview, Bernie blamed Max and vice versa.
Bernie's a dick.
and guess what happens to us March 20th weekend..... we all will be back watching the same dog and pony show that we hate and want change for years and years.
I forget where I had read somewhere a while back that the RBR engine
was just a political play and there was no way F1 would lose two teams (4 cars) plus a race.
