Reality blows.
So I'm trying to form a planning committee, and only two people have shown interest in a week. So much talk to visitors about this being a great area with great people. That may be so, but when it comes time to get something done, it becomes

Paul, I think the problem is that you are thinking / planning on too grand of a scale. As much as I love large meets and would love to see something bringing people from all over the UMW (and perhaps even other regions) together, I don't really believe that can be possible when there aren't even regular smaller meets anywhere throughout the region. However, I'm no expert on the matter and certainly could be proved wrong.
All in all, you shouldn't beat yourself up if other people don't seem to share your vision.

mostly; except, it's okay to think "grand scale", but just maybe not "grand scale" and "right now". It's my sense that alot of larger annual events start off as smaller events and grow larger over the years. Could be wrong.

True that, but most wont be interested at all unless we have definitive plans laied out and other things secured. If I can't get any further interest, we may have to get by on a three person team. BTW, all plans that I've relayed to you must stay with you and with the planing group until it's time to post up.
