Seeing as Chicago is a pretty major urban hub and we often have visitors coming to our city asking what there is to do, I figured we should have a stickied thread containing all of our suggestions. Feel free to post below suggestions you have for anyone visiting this fine city many of us call home. I know we won't all agree on things, but having a variety of opinions will only give more variety to the options.

Also, visitors may make additional requests here for any restaurants or venues if they don't see something of particular interest to them already.

While I first intended this to be for the downtown area, sometimes visitors are staying out in suburbs, so feel free to post options there as well, labeling the suburb or suburban region if possible.

Rock Bottom Brewery
Pizzeria Uno / Due (*MY* favorite Chicago-style pizza, but this is an often-debated subject)
PF Chang's
Andy's Jazz Club (a favorite among my family)

Entertainment
Boat tour, weather permitting (the architectural tours are particularly fascinating)
ICON Theater (movie theater with certain 21+ rooms that have improved seating and will serve you drinks while watching the movie)
ANY of the museums (Museum of Science and Industry and the Shedd Aquarium are definitely two personal favorites... be sure to keep an eye out for free admission days!)

 

Thanks k1ngfunk for the suggestions, I'm gonna go checkout wrigley field tomorrow, been a cubs fan all my life and it's my first time in Chicago. Its weird cause I live in California my entire life but like the cubs. Definitly will try to make it out to that pizza place tomorrow.

Hi Guys

My wife and me are going to be in chicago for 3 days in July.

We love to eat and love to shop, any tips on places to do these things ? Also anything else to do while in Chicago that is a must ?

we are staying at the Marriott SpringHill Suites Chicago Elmhurst/Oakbrook Area, much to do around here ? or is it all "Downtown" ?

any tips/advice would be much appreciated.

great idea for a thread. i was there a few yrs ago. did a boat tour, which was awesome, went to the sears tower and john hancock bldg...yes i know, its very touristy.

then saw the mets vs the cubs at wrigley. im a huge fan of the city of chicago. its like here in nyc only nicer, newer, cleaner and nicer people.

also ate at the billy goat and walked around a lot. went out in the rush district at night as well. forgot exactly where we went though.
saw the fountain from the intro to married with children too.
