AP2 S2000 Uses Loads of Titanium To Stand Out
This titanium-heavy AP2 Honda S2000 is truly unique in a sea of cookie-cutter builds.
Unique Build
By now, one could assume that pretty much anything you can do to a Honda S2000 has already been done, and in all fairness, there's a little bit of truth to that. Day after day, we come across a lot of cookie-cutter rides that simply look the same, employ the same parts, and feature the same sort of inspired style that's been done, time and time again. However, that certainly isn't the case with Kai Her and his AP2, which was recently featured by MotorTrend.

Tragedy to Triumph
Her originally purchased this S2000 when he was in college after his poor Civic was t-boned while he was sitting at a stoplight, leaving in it a total state of disrepair. Luckily, the S2000 was always his dream car, and he was able to locate a suitable one on the other side of the country, though it wasn't in the best shape at that time.

Getting Serious
He tinkered around with his new ride for some time, adding parts here and there, but things didn't really get serious until the pandemic set in. From there, this project began to spiral, leading to a bevy of modifications. Under the hood, that includes a laundry list of mods such as a Titanium Works engine bay dress-up kit, a short ram titanium intake, and a GoTuning/GReddy Spectrum Elite titanium dual exhaust, to name just a few.

Cabin Mods
Inside the cabin, Her added even more goodies such as Recaro Pole Position seats sitting on Buddy Club seat rails, an NRG quick-release steering hub with a Momo wheel, a Spoon Sports horn button, a wide view rearview mirror, and of course, an ARC titanium shift knob, which helps keep the titanium theme going.

Suspension and Brakes
To make this S2000 a bit more fun in the twisties, Her addressed the suspension by adding a set of A'PEXi N1 EXV coilovers, Stanceparts air cups, Hardrace front and rear lower extended ball joints, and an EVS Tuning rear anti-bumpsteer kit, while the brakes were upgraded with Spoon Sports monoblock calipers, Project Mu SCR front rotors, a Ballade Sport rear brake kit, and stainless steel braided lines.

New Look
Of course, doing all of that work and leaving the exterior as-is would be a shame, so Her gave his AP2 a new look with a Spoon Sports S-Tai front bumper and Spoon aero mirrors, Downforce 30mm widened front fenders, a Spoon style rear diffuser, a Voltex side step Version 2 Street, Type 2 rear wing, and titanium wing stands, a First Molding hood, an OEM Honda hardtop, and Mugen MF10 wheels measuring 18x9 up front and 18x10 in the rear, which are wrapped with Hankook V12 EVO2 tires.

Proper Tribute
The end result is not only a stunning ride worth showing off, but also a proper tribute to Her's late brother, who shared his love of cars. "I now see that the S2000 has been a behind-the-scenes contributor to my life story and unknowingly made me who I am today," he said. "It holds a greater story than just a car build, it holds memories of my late brother's shared interest in building Hondas and has played a significant part in my love life and creating the brotherhood I found within NnovatioN. It's safe to say this car has been the author of my life for these past seven years."
