Daily Slideshow: HKS Premium Day 2018 Went Down at Fuji Speedway
Every year HKS does a service to the community at large of Japan by hosting one of the best events bar none for tuners. Check out what went down at this year's event below.
Doing good for almost a decade
This event may seem like a giant track day festival but it is actually more than that. HKS Premium Day, since its start back in 2009, is Japan's foremost tuning car celebration and with every sort of make and model of JDM power showing up to show out. This event has historically been sandwiched between the Tokyo Auto Salon and the Osaka Auto Messe, with activities ranging from time attack challenges, a dyno shootout, as well as a showcase of the latest products from HKS.

Living legends on the grounds
With cars such as Max Orido's Ridox Supra, the Kansai Service R35 GT-R, Do-Luck R33, and Pantera FD3S RX-7 it's like a candy store for enthusiasts with a need for speed. In addition to that was the lineup of Japan's racing legends including Eiji 'Tarzan' Yamada, Nobuteru Taniguchi, and Manabu Orido. To the side of the F1 level road course were the paddocks where vendor village had set up shop, a couple car meets were going down, and a mobile dyno. HKS not only had their wares on hand but had a demo vehicle that was available for any attendee who might want to see how the products performed.

A great day for all
It really is a shame that something like this doesn't go down here in the States as it would not only bring together the auto community it could serve as safe space for drivers to sharpen their skills. The really cool thing about the track activities is that if you didn't bring your own circuit-ready car you could always just ride passenger with a pro to gain some insight on driving techniques. This celebration is just an out and out show of everything that's going on in the Japanese tuning world with various shops bringing their individual flavor to keep things spicy.
