Mixed Emotions

If there's one thing that gets S2000 fans (and purists, in general) riled up, it's the idea of an electrified version of that particular work of automotive art. While some enjoy driving performance-focused all-electric vehicles, others despise them, making the EV one of the more controversial entities in today's world. Thus, this modernized, all-electric S2000e rendering created by LARSONdesign is sure to conjure up some mixed emotions.

Fitting the Void

In this case, our artist reminds us that since the S2000 departed this world, nothing has really filled the void of the long hood, rear-wheel-drive, convertible two-seat sports car, save for the Porsche Boxster (a mid-engine machine) and the Mazda Miata. That's a shame, but would an all-electric S2000 really fit the bill in that regard?

Modern Times

Honda has toyed around with the idea of making a sporty EV in the same mold of the S2000 in the recent past, and we wouldn't be surprised to see it actually come to fruition, even if it doesn't arrive wearing an S2000 badge. In this case, our artist imagines such a model with a few interesting styling updates for modern times, however.

Mixed Emotions

That includes a variety of styling cues taken from the S800, the original lightweight, sporty Honda roadster. Both the headlight and front grille pay homage to the S2000's predecessor, though the end result is bound to conjure up some mixed emotions - just like the car's purported electric drivetrain.

Would It Work?

Whether or not this look resonates with consumers, well, we'll let our readers decide. We find it difficult to capture the magic of the original S2000, though many have obviously tried, and we can't imagine that the car's iconic powerplant could be replicated by any sort of electric powertrain, either.
